"I feel blessed that everyday I get to do what I love the most, cook, educate and write about wholefoods in the most ethical way I know how. "Food is life."
Veet Karen - Wholefoods & Raw Food Chef
Clean food free of preservatives used to create delicious meals has always been important to me. My earliest memories of cooking were with my mother and brother. We were like mini connoisseurs trying new and interesting flavours which was quite a feat seeing we grew up in the Northern Territory where in those days variety wasn’t a word we heard often. However the melting pot of cultures in that outback town set our taste buds alight and helped with our passion & creativity in the kitchen.
When leaving home at the age of eighteen I was already a vegetarian and was very keen on only putting healthy food into my body. I was starting to hear the word organic all over the place and incorporated that into my diet wherever I could. It wasn’t until I moved to the Byron Bay area and wanting a lifestyle change that I realised I could actually turn my passion into my life. After eight years as a care worker and twelve as a primary school teacher I set up a catering business called Veet's Cuisine.
Over the last six years Veet’s Cuisine has not only become a way for me to cook healthy vegetarian food on retreats but also an avenue in which I can help educate those who want more information on incorporating healthy vegetarian food into their lives. With a weekly blog, two cookbooks and cooking classes I am able to assist in making wonderfully healthy life choices when it comes to food. I pride myself on being able to create Veet’s Cuisine in the most ethical way I know how and feel blessed that everyday I get to do what I love the most, cook, educate and write about wholefoods.
